Christmas shopping is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. As Christmas season is now upon us, I find myself being asked by friends and family what they can get my children for Christmas. I can’t ignore the little voice inside my head that screams “Please, no more toys!” As a mom, I’ve realized over the last few years that my kids love and remember experiences and meaningful gifts more than toys.
By the time holidays roll around, my kids have already gotten enough toys throughout the year that they don’t even remember to play with, so they really don’t need to add to the masses. Especially because birthdays fall a month before and a month after Christmas for Lincoln and Isaac.
This year, I’ve been giving practical gift suggestions for kids and I’ve decided to share it with you all. On this list are also some great gifts for moms, in case you need to drop some hints!
1. Personalized Name Blankets
Who doesn’t love a soft and cozy blanket to snuggle up with during the colder months? My kids LOVE to take naps with theirs, and I grabbed personalized ones for all of the cousins this Christmas.
I reached out and got you guys a discount code! Save 15% off your order with code KAIL15
2. Tinytags Personalized Necklaces
Personalized jewelry is one of the best Christmas gifts. You see me wear my tinytags ALL of the time, I literally never take them off. These pieces make a great gift that will be around for years. With so many personalization options, you can’t go wrong when shopping for your mom, sister, bestie, or even yourself.
3. Fujifilm Instax Camera
Okay, I’m obsessed with taking instant photos with my Fujifilm camera and so are the boys! I grabbed two cameras for them this year so they can take their own pics, and I plan on helping them to create memory books with their shots in the new year.
Grab one for yourself and snap away! Memories are one of the best Christmas gifts you can give your family, and that's why I love these cameras so much.
Among the best Christmas presents for kids are books you can enjoy as a family. A current favorite in my house, the Dragons Love Tacos series is a hit! Reading is so important for kids, so finding good books that hold their interest is key.
Both Isaac and Lincoln love these, and we also grabbed some for the other kids in our family for presents this year. What's your favorite book to read with your kiddos? I'd love some ideas!
5. Canvas Prints
I’m loving decorating my house with canvas prints of our favorite photos. It brings a new look to a basic picture, and the kids love getting to see photos of themselves throughout the years on the walls. Get a family favorite picture or another photo your child loves put on a canvas and wrap it up for them this year, it’ll be a great surprise under the tree!
6. Personalized Drinkware
Fun drinkware makes an amazing gift for everyone on your list. A lot of you may not know that I co-own a small shop, Day 1 Creations. We create custom mugs, cups, and kids tumblers and can put pretty much anything on a cup. My kids love theirs and carry them everywhere with them. Definitely a cute gift or stocking stuffer for little ones -- or for yourself!
I hope these ideas helped you guys think of practical gift ideas for your little loved ones! If you have other ideas, I’d love to hear them. Leave a comment below or tweet me: (@kaillowry) with your favorite practical gifts for kids!
